Voice of Hindu (VOH) vice- president Navin Unnoop deplored the fact that some newspapers are tarnishing the image of the socio-cultural organisation. He was speaking at a press conference at the Hindu Maha Sabha, Port Louis, on Monday.
“A newspaper published on Saturday reported that VOH insulted minister Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum. We immediately organised an emergency meeting at No 13 and concluded that the news was false. This is condemnable,” said Unnoop.
He added that VOH is planning to sue this daily newspaper for false and malicious denunciation in writing. “We will have no choice but to organise a demonstration,” he said.
VOH president Krit Manohur said that a daily newspaper is engaging in “Hindu washing”. “The PM was right when he said that some journalists are intellectually limited. Are they going to continue to attack Hindu organisations, ministers?” He added , “We will take legal actions in case this newspaper does not apologise.
