Mauritian Schengen Visa Update

Mauritians will no longer in need short term vis a for Schengen countries in Europe, official sources confirmed Saturday. According to an agreement between the two sides, Mauritian nationals visiting these countries for a stay of combined duration of three months per half-year will no longer need visa. The agreement, however, specified that it will not apply to Mauritians who come to these countries for economic activity. Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden are members of the Schengen agreement.

ok farhana0212, its confirmed for next year april ie april 2009, providing a change of gov doesn't change the bloody thing.

mauritians living in the uk with permanent residency has still got to take a visa to travel to europe mainland schengen states etc, how sick is that... and to be honest, most immigrants from france belgium etc wanna come over here due to the facility ( that uk use to provide) but since the arrivals of polish etc,all these are history now.

bloody sad!!! but anyway uk is still quite alright compared to france etc as over there u either remain illegal or u can pick up rubbish or may get lucky and find a job with a mechanic ;-)

hey , is that confirmed?? I have been in touch with some ''sarah'' at the eu head quarters in brussels, but it seems like the idea was dropped because they feared that mauritius will be empty in the event that mauritians won't be requiring a visa to travel to schengen countries!!!
